Lee's Summit North High School is blessed to have two amazing Choral Directors,
Steve Perry and Jenny Malotte.

Mr. Perry is also the Lead Teacher for the Music Department.

Concert Choir is made of Juniors and Seniors with some Sophomore men. Concert Choir performs at the District Music Contest in the spring.

Crimson Camerata is made of Juniors and Seniors from Concert Choir. Crimson Camerata  has performed at the Renaissance Festival, the State Ballet, and at the Missouri Music Educators Association at Tan-Tar-A. They will also attend the District Music Contest.

Women's Choir is made of women from grades 10-12. Womens Choir combines with the women from Concert Choir and Freshmen Women's Choir to become Women's Glee at District Music Contest.

Men's Choir is made of men from grade 9-12. Mens Choir combines with the men from Concert Choir to form Men's Glee at District Music Contest.

Freshmen Women's Choir is made of women from grade 9. Freshman Women combine with women from Concert Choir and Women's Choir at District Music Contest.

Mixed Choir is made of men and women from grades 9-12. Mixed Choir goes caroling in the winter.

Silver Cantoria is the Freshmen-Sophomore Chamber Choir.

Symphony Orchestra

Symphony Orchestra is made up of band and string players.
This is a select group and you must audition with the director to be in it.
They also go to the spring District Contest at
Blue Springs High School.

                

Concert Orchestra

This is for string players that want to further there music ability.
They go to contest (districts) in the spring at
Blue Springs High School.
This class is for 9-12 graders at LSN..

Assistant Band Directors are John M. Johnson and Mike Gerhardt. 

The Bands at LSN offer performing opportunities to all students.Some of the ensembles require students to audition for participation.

  • Marching Band - August thru November - Comprised of band students in grades 9-12 enrolled in Concert or Symphonic band. Marching band offers experience in intermediate to advanced marching and performance techniques associated with street marching and field show design. There is a 3 day rookie camp in May for incoming freshman to help with the transition. This Marching Band experience will require a band camp in August and Thursday evening rehearsals in September and October. Activities during the marching season include: performances and support at home football games, selected street and field marching festivals, participation in community activities and an invitation to the Bands of America Super Regional Competition in St Louis -October 15th&16th.
  • Varsity Band - This ensemble is for students not wishing to participate in marching band or students needing to gain the technical or musical proficiency to try out for Symphonic or Concert band.This ensemble will have the opportunity to participate in Concert Band concerts, music festivals, and area civic performances
  • Symphonic Band and Concert Band - November thru May
    The majority of the school year is focused on the Symphonic and Concert band season. This is where students will make the most improvement in their musical capabilities.and be provided with opportunities to further their musical growth. Activities include Holiday Concerts, Winter Concerts,Cavalcade of Bands Area Music Festivals, and opportunities for solo and ensemble participation.

    Symphonic Band
    -The Symphonic Band is the top auditioned performing group. Members of this ensemble aspire to the highest standards of performance and leadership.
  • Concert Band - The Concert Band is also  an auditioned performing ensemble that nurtures students musical abilities and prepares them for advancement. This is also a high level performing ensemble that performs at concerts
  • Jazz Band - November thru May - An auditioned group of 20-24 members that perform standard jazz charts to contemporary pop music. Previous experience in jazz is not required Jazz band performs at civic events, festivals,and area competitions. Rehearsals are Tuesday and Thursday mornings before school.
    Its members must be enrolled in band.
  • All District and All State Band - November thru May - These are concert groups staffed by the best musicians from the Kansas City Metro area and from the All District bands throughout the state. These are highly competitive concert groups Traditionally LSN students make both bands each year. To qualify for a an audition for all State you must be a member of the All District band. Information and audition material is available through the school.
  • Music Festivals - Late March thru early May - There will be many music festivals that our students will have the opportunity to participate in as a soloist or part of a small ensemble or large ensemble. Some of these are District Music Festival (Blue Springs), State Music Festival(Columbia), LSN Music Festival, Percussion Festival.
  • North Drumline - LSN also has an award winning drumline and percussion section. The drumline is comprised of Symphonic and Concert percussionists and double reed instrument players. The students practice during the summer and regularly during marching season. Under the direction Mrs Bussard, the drumline activities include all marching band performances, competitions,an indoor show, and area civic performances, such as the LSN Stomp show.
